PTSD

We haven’t asked for any support for a long time, but COVID has taken its toll on our fundraising and we need your help spreading the word on this, and any donations you can afford.

PTSD is a real risk for our members, and we want to put in place some permanant funding to ensure that we can better support everyone who suffers from exposure to the sights we see.

– “I’ve had recurrent flashbacks of a drowned lady’s face. Her eyes were open and I was holding her head as we untangled her from the riverbed. I know she won’t do me harm but when she pops into my head I feel sick and my heart races.”

– “I’ve had some trouble in the last few months. I didn’t think I could reach out but managed to get myself together.”

– “I’m avoiding going home. When I go home I see my family and think about things too much.”

Today we’re launching our Rescue Team Wellbeing project. We’re setting aside some funds to provide instant support between members, and from professionals where it’s needed. We want to go further and provide training to members, and their families, to spot and try to manage the early signs of traumatic stress.

We’re asking you to help support OUR family; our team. Our members are our most valuable asset and we’re investing in making sure they’re healthy, safe and can continue to respond to help YOUR families when needed.
