The Herbert Protocol is a national scheme being introduced by Police and Search & Rescue teams which encourages carers to compile useful information which could be used in the event of a vulnerable person going missing.
Care providers will be asked to complete a form for any resident considered to be of particular risk of going missing due to health issues such as Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia.
This form, which will be kept on record at home (not by the Police or SAR team), will contain details such as an up to date description of the resident, addresses or locations where they may try to go and details of how mobile they are.
