At the heart of every rescue team, whether it be Mountain Rescue or Lowland Rescue, is a rock-solid communication infrastructure. In the event that there is a loss of mobile-phone signal after a major incident, we have a tried and tested digital VHF network so we can send messages back and forth securely.
We work closely with SARCOMM – a non-profit operation dedicated to providing VHF comms to rescue teams at low cost – and we have access to a network which spans across the region and beyond, so we can go and work with other teams seamlessly.
As an official UKSAR team, we also have access to the same VHF frequencies as Mountain Rescue, the coastguard and rescue helicopters, so we can liaise with any of them in the event of a multi-team incident.
